Hydro-Québec has established a joint venture with Sony Corp, Minato Tokyo, to develop large-scale energy storage systems for power grids. A new company will be formed this June in Varenne QC, utilizing Hydro-Québec's operation and control technologies for electric power supplies and its lithium-ion battery material technology.
