The Canadian Glycomics Network (GlycoNet) and its partners distributed grants amounting to $3.5 million to 36 health researchers for exploratory research on the benefits of glycomics in health. The funds will go to 14 research projects in 18 institutions across Canada. GlycoNet is one of the federal Networks of Centres of Excellence (NCE). Catalyst and translational grants are funded for one year while collaborative team grants, where research partners match funding from NCE, are funded for two years. Aside from the grants, GlycoNet will extend technical support to the projects, including access to core services, business development and intellectual property protection services, and assistance in developing collaborations with the industry.
