Feds launch immigrant investor pilot program

The federal government has launched its Immigrant Investor Venture Capital pilot program to attract high net-value individuals to Canada. The pilot aims to provide permanent residency for about 50 immigrant investors and their families. Eligible immigrants must have a net worth of at least $10 million, make investments of $2 million over 15 years and have proven business or investment experience. Proceeds from the pilot will be funnelled into the Immigrant Investor Venture Capital Fund for use in financing high-potential high-tech start-ups. The program was announced in the 2014 Budget and succeeds two similar programs that were terminated for underperformance....
