The International Truck and Engine Corporation of Canada (ITECC) has received $62 million from the Ontario and federal governments to establish a new R&D Centre in Chatam ON and undertake a multi-faceted R&D program The Ontario government is providing $32 million through the Ontario Automotive Investment Strategy to support the R&D Centre and its partnership with the Univ of Windsor (U of W). The federal government through Technology Partnerships Canada is providing a $30-million loan to assist ITECC in developing automated installation systems for cab trim, enhanced laser technology and vision systems for the positioning of the cab during the assembly process. Including public support, ITECC’s R&D initiatives will cost $270 million over several years.
