Environment Canada to lose 700 positions

Environment Canada is the first major federal department to receive news of major staff reductions. The government will eliminate 700 positions through attrition and reassignment, reducing the department's workforce by 11%. The cuts include 92 physical scientists, 37 engineers, 45 computer scientists, 19 meteorologists, seven chemists and two biologists. The government says the cuts will help it realize its goal of eliminating the deficit by FY14-15....
