Federal and provincial energy ministers have completed two days of discussions that included new technologies and processes required to improve the energy efficiency of Canada's energy and mining sectors. The talks in St John's NF focused on the need to share R&D for large-scale hydro development, wind-hydrogen-diesel pilot projects for isolated communities and R&D in bioenergy, renewable energy and sustainable energy development. A 2007 Council of Energy Ministers report urged its membership to develop tools and programs for several areas. Those tools are now complete and cover trucking, industry, construction and communities. A roadmap for integrated community energy initiatives has also been developed. The next annual meeting will be in Quebec City next September….
