Dr Tom Ellis has been appointed as the first research director of the Canadian Light Source. Ellis’s position is affiliated with the Univ of Saskatchewan’s department of chemistry. Prior to joining the CLS, he was dean of research and graduate studies at Acadia Univ in Wolfville NS. Ellis has been involved with the CLS since its inception and currently serves as national director of its two infrared beamlines. He holds a BSc in engineering from Dalhousie Univ and a PhD in chemistry from the Univ of Waterloo. His post-doctoral fellowship was at the AT&T Bell Lab in New Jersey.
