Dr Ted Hewitt

Dr Ted Hewitt has been appointed acting VP research at the Univ of Western Ontario (UWO), replacing Dr Nils Petersen, who has left to become DG of the National Institute for Nanotechnology in Edmonton (R$, June 15/04). Hewitt is currently UWO’s associate VP research and will assume the acting position November 1. A selection committee has already been struck to find Petersen’s replacement. Hewitt is a sociology professor and a leading authority on Brazil. Over the past four years, he spearheaded development of UWO’s strategic research plan and a strategic plan for internationalization.
