Dr Neil Bose has been appointed VP research at Memorial Univ, succeeding interim VP Dr Ray Gosine who was appointed following the unexpected demise of Dr Richard Marceau. Dr Mark Abrahams will hold the position until Bose assumes the post November. Bose is currently principal of the Australian Maritime College at the Univ of Tasmania where he has held other posts including director of the college’s National Centre for Maritime Engineering and Hydrodynamics and manager of the Australian Maritime Hydrodynamics Research Centre. He took up his Tasmanian posts after a long career at Memorial which included stints as an assistant professor of the naval architectural engineering program, director of the Ocean Engineering Research Centre and Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Offshore and Underwater Vehicles Design. He holds a BSc in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering and a PhD from the Univ of Glasgow.
