Dr Marvin Fritzler has been appointed chair of the board of directors for the Alberta Science and Research Authority (ASRA), succeeding founding chair Dr Robert Church who is stepping down after 10 years. Fritzler has a strong background in biotechnology research and is a professor of medicine at the Univ of Calgary. He held the Chair of the Arthritis Society until recently and also worked at the Scripps Research Institute at the Univ of Texas. Fritzler was instrumental in the creation of the Institute for Musculoskeletal Health and Arthritis, located at the Univ of Calgary and part of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. He chaired the task force that led to the creation of the province’s Life Sciences Institute. Fritzler holds a BSc from the Univ of Alberta and an MD and PhD from the Univ of Calgary….
