Dr Marc Denis-Everell, a key player in the push for increased science capacity in government, is leaving his position as Assistant DM of the Earth Sciences Sector of Natural Resources Canada. Effective July 4, he will take up his new duties as Assistant DM of the Meteorological Service of Canada (MSC) at Environment Canada. He will be replaced in an acting capacity by Dr Susan Till, director of NRCan's Data Acquisition Division, until a competition can be held. Everell worked at the ADM level at NRCan for 13 years, and prior to his earth sciences position, was an ADM with CANMET. He also worked at the department as a research scientist from 1970 to 1975, before taking up positions in the university and provincial government sectors until 1987. At MSC, Everell will be overseeing widely distributed personnel and dealing with issues such as climate change, water quantity, air pollution, ice forecasting and improved information to the public, as well as development of private sector initiatives in several technology areas....
