Dr John Hepburn

Dr John Hepburn has been appointed VP research at the Univ of British Columbia, succeeding Dr Indira Samarasekera, who left last November to become president of the Univ of Alberta. Currently dean of the faculty of science, Hepburn’s appointment is effective October 1. He was a professor of chemistry and physics at the Univ of Waterloo from 1982 and 2001. Upon moving to UBC, he chaired the chemistry department for two years before being appointed science dean in 2003. Hepburn received his BSc in chemistry from the Univ of Waterloo and his PhD at the Univ of Toronto where his supervisor was Nobel prize winner Dr. John Polanyi. Upon graduation he was a NATO Fellow at the Univ of California Berkeley’s Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory....
