Dr Denis Faubert has been appointed the inaugural president and CEO of the Consortium for Aerospace Research and Innovation in Canada (CARIC), a national R&D consortium recently funded by Industry Canada (see page 3). Faubert was also recently appointed president and CEO of the Consortium for Research and Innovation in Aerospace in Quebec, which was instrumental in launching CARIC in conjunction with the Aerospace Industries Association of Canada (R$, May 7/14). Prior to joining CRIAQ, he was GM of the Hydro Quebec Research Institute for more than seven years. Faubert has considerable experience in the management of defence R&D, working at Defence R&D Canada Valcartier for more than seven years and serving as DRDC's DG in the mid-2000s. Dr Patricia Beckman has been appointed chief technology development officer responsible for overseeing the selection and development of projects. Beckman has more than 30 years experience in research, operations, law and venture capital. While president of the Oregon Translational R&D Institute, she developed an incubator model for bioscience start-ups. Michael Lincoln has been appointed chief financial and business officer, responsible for the business strategies of CVI and its spin-offs.
