Dr Chad Gaffield is stepping down after three years into his second five-year terms as president of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC). Gaffield will leave the position August 31st and resume his position as a history professor at the Univ of Ottawa. During his years at SSHRC, he has overseen a renewal of the granting council's governance and led a redesign of its program architecture under three umbrella themes — talent, insight and connection. Gaffield has raised SSHRC's profile outside of the academic community, particularly with business.
