Dr Adam Chowaniec has been appointed chair the new Ontario Research and Innovation Council (ORIC), an advisory group to the premier announced in the last provincial Budget (R$, May 18/05). As chair, Chowaniec will lead ORIC’s work in developing strategies and benchmarking the province against other Canadian and international jurisdictions. ORIC is slated to begin work in early 2006. Chowaniec is chair of Tundra Semiconductor Corp, founder of several high-tech companies and sits on the boards of several firms. ORIC is expected to have about 12 members of the business and academic communities....
