Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC) and Public Safety Canada (PSC) have awarded $48.8 million to 29 research, technology acceleration and technology demonstration projects aimed at solutions for the national security and first responders communities. The awards were made through Phase II funding of the Chemical, Radiological-Nuclear and Explosives (CBRNE) Research and Technology Initiatives (CRTI), jointly administered by DRDC and PSC through the Centre for Security Science, created in 2006. CRTI was established in 2002 with $170 million over five years and refunded in 2006. Its mandate was also expanded to include explosives and dual-use technologies. FMI: www.crti.drdc-rddc.gc.ca....
