The steering committee of the Canada Research Chairs (CRC) program is calling on participating universities to do more to address the under representation of women, Aboriginal people, the disabled and visible minorities when making their nominations for new chairholders. A letter was sent to university presidents and signed by Dr Ted Hewitt, president of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council on behalf of the presidents of the other granting council presidents, the Canada Foundation for Innovation and senior government officials.
