The Canada Research Chairs (CRC) program has awarded $104 million to 109 new and renewing chairs, bringing the total awarded to date to 1,851.There were 26 new chairholders and 83 renewals. The awards include 55 Tier I chairs ($200,000 a year for seven years) and 54 Tier II chairs ($100,000 a year for five years). Recruits from the US accounted for 18, while expatriots numbered nine. There were fewer women in the latest round (18%) reducing the overall percentage of women chairholders to 24% or 446. There are now 269 chairs that have been renewed.
