The Canada Research Chairs (CRC) program used its 10th anniversary celebrations to announce an investment of $275.6 million in 310 new and renewed chairs at 53 Canadian universities. The investment includes $13.4 million from the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) for research infrastructure associated with the new and renewed awards. The Univ of Toronto received $37.9 million or nearly 14% of the total — an amount exceeding the total received by the six smallest provinces. Other universities that did well are the Univ of British Columbia ($24.4 million), Univ of Montreal ($16.7 million) and McGill Univ ($15.4 million). The provincial breakdown is as follows:
