The Canada Research Chairs (CRC) program has announced 150 new and renewed chairs at 36 post-secondary institutions, with the Univ of Toronto leading the pack with $17.6 million for 19 chairs. The awards are worth $139 million and are augmented with $7.6 million in infrastructure support from the Canada Foundation for Innovation. With the latest awards, there are now 1650 chair positions filled (out of a possible 2000) including 791 Tier I chairholders and 859 Tier II chairholders.
