The Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) has announced funding for 12 Community-Based Primary Health Care Teams under its Transformative Community-based Primary Healthcare Initiative. The multidisciplinary research teams will tackles issues related to chronic disease prevention and management and access issues for vulnerable populations in Canada, New Zealand and Australia. CIHR is providing the bulk of the funding (up to $32 million over five years) with $2.5 million from the Australian Primary Health Care Institute and $1 million from the Health Research Council of New Zealand.
