Commercialization offices across Ontario have joined forces to create the Ontario Society for Excellence in Technology Transfer (onSETT). It’s unclear how many universities, teaching hospitals and research institutes have come on board but the founding board of directors gives an indication of the new body’s breadth and scope (See ‘People’ on this page). The mission of onSETT is to “foster a robust technology transfer environment by strengthening commercialization networks, promoting high quality commercialization practices, collecting and disseminating statistics and measures of commercialization activity, and educating members and stakeholders.” It will create a virtual network for information sharing, promoting best practices and highlighting the importance of technology transfer among members and vested partners. The Centre for Innovation Law and Policy (CLIP) at the Univ of Toronto was instrumental in the creation of the Society. CLIP will host and design a web site for the Society and sponsor and develop conferences and other events on its behalf. FMI: www.onSETT.ca….
