China, Canada to build Alzheimer's research centre

A Chinese-Canadian research center for child development and the study of Alzheimer's disease will be built at the Chongqing Children's Hospital in Southwest China. The $4.8-million centre will be jointly funded by the hospital and the University of British Columbia. Under the agreement, signed October 22, researchers at the centre will study afflictions such as Down syndrome, epilepsy, cerebral palsy, autism and learning disabilities, as well as Alzheimer's. The centre is expected to be operational within two or three years....
