The Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences' Oil Crop Research Institute has signed an agreement with the National Research Council's Plant Biotechnology Institute to conduct joint genetic research on improving the production of canola. The Chinese Academy will contribute $300,000 for the first project under the agreement — the first time China has invested directly in Canadian agricultural research.
