Celestica and execs fund chairs at Univ of Toronto

Celestica Inc, its chairman and six senior executives have donated $3 million to the Univ of Toronto’s faculty of applied science and engineering to create three endowed chairs. The amount will be matched by the university and will allow the faculty to seek grants from various government agencies that would multiply the original gift by up to three times. The three chairs will constitute a major node of the Microelectronics Assembly and Packaging consortium which was launched last year with financial assistance from the Ontario R&D Challenge Fund. Celestica, a Toronto-based contract manufacturing giant will donate $1 million to create the Celestica Chair in Materials for Microelectronics. Chairman Eugene Polistuk will donate $1 million for a Chair in Electromagnetic Design bearing his name. Six Celestica executives have banded together to donate $1 million for a Celestica Alumni Chair in Advanced Manufacturing Logistics. All seven executives are graduates of the faculty....
