The Canadian Bacterial Diseases Network (CBDN) has signed license and collaborative research agreements with Novartis Animal Health Inc, Basel Switzerland, for a vaccine to prevent shipping fever in cattle. The vaccine is being developed by CBDN in conjunction with the Univ of Calgary, Univ of Guelph and the Veterinary Infectious Diseases Organization, Saskatoon. CANARIE awards $1.5 million to VENNGO
CANARIE Inc has awarded $1.5 million in financing to Toronto's VENNGO Inc to evolve its proprietary software into the world's first business web or virtual business network (VBN). VENNGO (formerly Equityengine.com Inc) was launched less than a year ago and originally planned to develop the first Internet-based virtual incubator but made the decision to transform its business model targeting organizations that support entrepreneurs and small businesses. The funding was provided under CANARIE's $10-million E-business Virtual Clusters Program, which it delivers on behalf of Industry Canada. Proposals for funding under the program are accepted and evaluated by a committee of peers on a continuing basis. Several firms and organizations have already joined VENNGO's VBN, including Hewlett-Packard (Canada) Ltd, Association of Collegiate Entrepreneurs, Univ of Toronto, and Canadian Youth Business Foundation....
