The Canadian Advanced Technology Alliance (CATA) is warning that the Competition Bureau's proposed Intellectual Property Enforcement Guidelines (IPEG) will negatively impact on Canada's potential for growth. In letters to Commissioner of Competition Conrad Finckenstein and Industry Canada minister John Manley, CATA president John Reid argues that overly restrictive descriptions of intellectual property (IP) statutes and exclusive licenses will only penalize success for R&D intensive firms.
