Three Canada-Europe collaborative aerospace research projects have been launched following extensive dialogue among 30 partners evenly split between the two jurisdictions. Funding of the Canadian component of the projects is being provided by the Consortium for Aerospace Research and Innovation in Canada (CARIC) and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council with the European Commission supporting European partners. The approved industry-academic projects call for the development of an additive manufacturing optimization and simulation platform for repairing and remanufacturing aerospace components, an electromagnetic platform for lightweight integration/installation of electrical systems in composite electrical aircraft, and ice phobic surfaces to prevent ice formation on aircraft. The projects are industry-led through CARIC's AeroConnect program and piggybacks on NSERC's Engage program….
