The Calgary Research and Development Authority (CR&DA) has been re-branded Calgary Technologies Inc (CTI) to more properly reflect the economic sector it is mandated to promote. CTI will seek to capitalize on the city's technology sector that employed 47,000 people in 1998 and generated more than $9 billion in revenue. It will be funded primarily by client revenue and private sector contributions. The City of Calgary which once funded the CR&DA in its entirety is now responsible for just 16% of its revenue. CTI also includes Calgary's Technology Centre, a recently opened 12,000-sq-m office complex of smart offices, laboratories and prototype development facilities located in the Univ of Calgary's University Research Park.
