Budget for York's health care tech project reaches $34.5M

York Univ's efforts to commercialize new health care technologies has been boosted by a $15-million grant from the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario). The institution's new project — The Health Ecosphere: An Innovation Pipeline for Commercial Health Solutions — has also received $19.5 million from 32 partners developing three dozen health care technologies, bringing the project's total budget to $34.5 million. The lead clinical partner for the project is the Southlake Regional Health Centre and the key academic partner is the University Health Network. The FedDev funding will allow York to boost its coaching and training capacity, focusing on Aboriginal health, youth mental health, aging, obesity and diabetes....
