BC’s CIMI closes after it fails to find new funding

British Columbia’s Canadian Institute for Market Intelligence (CIMI) has been shut down. The Vancouver-based organization closed its doors March 4 after it was unable to secure replacement funding for sunsetting support it received from the Industrial Research Assistance Program and the business faculty of Douglas College. CIMI was a key supporter of the creation of Leading Edge BC (LEBC), the provincially supported marketing and branding organization for BC’s technology industry. It is hoped that LEBC can assume some of CIMI’s functions, which included marketing, mentoring and matchmaking services for technology start-ups….
