The British Columbia government has shifted responsibility for research and technology to the Ministry of Advanced Education (MAE) as part of a June 16 Cabinet shuffle. Under rookie MAE minister Murray Coell, the Ministry has responsibility for research and innovation policy and the Science and Technology Fund, as well as the BC Innovation Council (formerly Science Council of BC) and the Leading Edge Endowment Fund Board. The Ministry of Economic Development (MED) retains nominal responsibility for the Premier’s Technology Council, which reports directly to the premier.
