The MaterialScience division of Bayer Inc has signed on to GreenCentre Canada (GCC) as its ninth industrial sponsor. Bayer's sponsorship gives the Canadian branch of the multinational Bayer AG one-stop access to green chemistry discoveries submitted to GCC and allows it to take part in assessing new technologies and providing development advice. With core funding from the Ontario and federal governments, GCC has received more than 200 technology disclosures from universities, government labs and companies across Canada ....
In other green chemistry news, GCC has licensed a suite of technologies developed at Queen's Univ by researchers led by Dr Philip Jessop, Canada Research Chair in Green Chemistry. Licensed through PARTEQ Innovations, the technology targets solvents and surfactants — two of the most widely used classes of compounds in the chemical industry. The technologies greatly reduce the energy consumption and operating costs associated with removing the compounds once they have been used in the production of chemical products....
