TPC invests in Guigné and MD Robotics

Technology Partnerships Canada has announced two new investments of $4.9 million and $3.9 million respectively in R&D projects being undertaken by Guigné Inc, St John’s NF and MD Robotics, Brampton ON. The investment in Guigné will assist the firm in enhancing its multi-beam sonar technology for use in military, paramilitary, environmental and fishery applications. Guigné has developed DRUMSTM (dynamically responding ultrasonic matrix system) a precision underwater acoustic system that uses sonar waves for highly accurate beam shaping and control. The project is designed to improve the firm’s technology to detect and identify submerged objects. The TPC investment in MD Robotics (a subsidiary of MacDonald Dettwiler & Associates Ltd) will be used to conduct further R&D on technology relating to space cameras, artificial vision system and rendezvous and docking simulation for its space docking vision systems.
