PPI and Bayer strike third licensing deal

Performance Plants Inc. (PPI), King-ston ON, and Bayer CropScience have entered their third licence agreement giving Bayer evaluation and commercial rights for PPI's heat and drought tolerance technology as it applies to wheat. The agreement follows licences in 2009 and 2011 for PPI technology related to cotton. Wheat accounts for 25% of the world's arable land and its production ranks behind corn with 650 million tons grown annually. Wheat productivity is growing 1% a year while demand is more than 2%.
