OST tracks differing types of research collaboration

Proximity to other research organizations appears to be a motivating factor to who Canadian researchers choose to collaborate with, according to a new bibliometric study by the Observatoire des science et des technologies. Intraprovincial R&D collaboration on scientific publications is highest in Ontario and Quebec due to the presence of large university, hospital and government research facilities. Correspondingly, interprovincial collaboration is highest among the Atlantic provinces where large research institutions are relatively scarce.
