Olympic R&D receives $3 million in federal funds

The federal government is funding a scaled-back successor to the successful Top Secret R&D component of the Own the Podium (OTP) program. Now called Innovations for Gold, Olympic sports-related R&D will receive $3 million over three years, provided OTP raises matching funds from donors to support training methods, recovery protocols, sport psychology, biomechanics and analytics.Prior to the 2010 Olympic Winter Games, the Top Secret R&D program spent $8 million to support Canadian athletes, resulting in a record 26 medals....
