Montreal home to laboratory of US-based InterDigital

InterDigital Communications Corp, Philadelphia PA, has established a laboratory in Montreal for 3-G (third generation) wireless technologies. InterDigital Canada Ltée will be headed up by Michel Desgagné, formerly a senior manager with Ericsson Canada conducting 3-G research for radio access networks. The laboratory will start with 10 engineers and increase to 30 by 2003 and will work on three wireless technology standards — W-CDMA, FDD and TDD. Desgagné will use his experience of interacting with area universities to establish at least one university collaboration by the end of the year. Research at the lab will initially focus on development of radio spectrum resource management and branch out into chip design, integration and testing….
