Mike Zafirovski has been appointed president and CEO of Nortel Networks Corp, replacing vice-chair and CEO William Owens who is stepping down after 19 months. Zafirovski comes to Nortel from Motorola where he served as president and COO and president and CEO of the personal communications sector division. Previously, he spent 25 with General Electric in a variety of senior roles in various divisions. Motorola has filed a lawsuit against Zafirovski to prevent his appointment on the grounds that he could divulge company trade secrets. The appointment is effective November 15....
