Gennum Corp hikes R&D spending by 20%

Gennum Corp has reported an increase in R&D spending of nearly 20% for FY00 ended November 20, according to year-end results released last week. The Burlington ON-based developer of silicon integrated circuits and modules and thin film hybrid circuits has R&D expenditures of $18 million (16.9% of sales), up from $15 million the year before. The increase was attributed to the hiring of new design engineers and investment in design tools and costs related to the prototyping of new products. Revenue for FY00 was $106.5 million, a 13.8% increase from $93.6 million in FY99....
