Dr Neil Turok has been re-appointed as director of the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics for a five-year term, beginning October/13. He will also become the inaugural chair holder for the Mike and Ophelia Lazaridis Niels Bohr Chair in Theoretical Physics. Turok holds a PhD from Imperial College London and joined the Perimeter Institute in 2008 after stints at Princeton Univ and Univ of Cambridge....

The federal government has appointed four new members to the Science, Technology and Innovation Council (STIC). Joining STIC are: Sophie Forest, managing partner, Brightspark Ventures; George Gosbee, chairman and CEO, AltaCorp Capital Inc; Maureen Kepston Darkes, General Motors Group VP and president; and, Annette Verschuren, chair and CEO.
