Dr Jane Aubin

Dr Jane Aubin has been appointed chief scientific officer (CSO) and VP of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), effective July 4th, replacing Dr Pierre Chartrand who is retiring. Aubin is currently completing a four-year term as scientific director of the CIHR Institute of Muskuloskeletal Health and Arthritis. She also served a term as scientific director and CEO of the Canadian Arthritis Network of Centres of Excellence. As CIHR's CSO, Aubin will oversee all scientific affairs and provide expert advice on S&T, potential opportunities, emerging orientations and trends in the national and international health research communities. As VP research, she is responsible for adjudicating CIHR grants and awards, will sit on CIHR's scientific council and report on the agency's knowledge translation strategy. Aubin received a PhD in medical biophysics at the Univ of Toronto and undertook postdoctoral studies in molecular biology and biochemistry at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry, Goettingen, Germany….
