Dr Gary Kachanoski

Dr Gary Kachanoski has been appointed VP research at the Univ of Alberta, replacing Dr Roger Smith. Prior to his appointment, Kachanoski spent five years at the Univ of Saskatchewan, where he was a professor and dean of graduate studies and research. His tenure at the Univ of Guelph (1985-1996) saw him involved in a variety of activities related to the planning, coordination and transfer of research to industry, government, user groups and the general public. Positions he held there included chair of land resource science and director of research (environment and natural resources) in the VP research office. Smith is currently on administrative leave and will return to the U of A next July. He is jointly appointed professor if business economics in the School of Business and a professor in the Faculty of Arts’ School of Business….
