Dr Feridun Hamdullahpur has been appointed VP research at Carleton Univ, replacing Dr John ApSimon who is retiring effective August 1. Hamdullahpur comes to Carleton from DalTech-Dalhousie Univ, where he was associate principal for graduate studies and research, and was responsible for industrial liaison, graduates studies, scholarships and awards, contract research and research chairs. He was also in charge of a research program in fluid dynamics. Hamdullahpur was also appointed as a professor at Carleton's department of mechanical and aerospace engineering....

The National Research Council's governing council has three new members: Peter Harder, DM Industry Canada, Dr Ross McCurdy, president of InNOVAcorp, Dr Louise Proulx, VP BioChem Pharma Inc, and Dr René Racine, professor emeritus at the Univ of Montreal. Re-appointed to the council are: Dr Clarke Henry, Imperial Oil's manager of research for the products and chemicals division, and Dr Patricia Shewan, a professor at the Univ
