Dr Donald Stuss has been appointed interim president and scientific director of the Ontario Brain Institute (OBI), which was established last November with $15 million in seed funding from the Ontario government (R$, November 29/10). Stuss is a senior scientist and founding director of the Rotman Research Institute, Baycrest and a professor in psychology, neurology and rehabilitation science at the Univ of Toronto. As the interim head of OBI, he is responsible for guiding its initial development and programs as well as engaging the provincial neuroscience community and its leadership in universities and hospitals. Stuss is best known for his research into the frontal lobe of the brain, the interaction of emotion and cognition and how the brain is affected by the aging process….

The Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) has appointed two new VPs. Robert Davidson is the new VP programs and planning. He returns to the CFI from McGill Univ where he spent one year as a senior R&D advisor, Prior to that, he was director of CFI programs from 2001 to 2009. In the 1990s, Davidson was director of research and policy analysis at the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada. Pierre Normand has been appointed VP external relations and communications. Normand comes to the CFI from the Canadian Federation for the Humanities and Social Sciences where he was director of communications since 2008. From 1997 to 2008, he ran a consulting firm (Normand Communications) and included the CFI as a client. Between 1988 and 1997, he was the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council's chief of communications….
