Dr Claudine Simson

Dr Claudine Simson has moved to Austin TX to take up a key executive post with Motorola Inc, ending a distinguished 25-year career in Canada including 23 years with Nortel Networks Corp. Simson has been appointed corporate VP and chief technology officer of Motorola’s Semiconductor Products Sector and director of its Digital DNA Laboratories. She replaces the retiring Dr Louis Parrillo. Simson started her career at Nortel in 1978 as a device physicist. She is credited with building the firm’s microelectronics business, and was one of the key scientists behind the launch of the world’s first single-chip filter codec used for digital switching. In the early 1990s, she was GM of Nortel’s semiconductor operation and her final position was VP disruptive technology solutions. After leaving Nortel in 2001 (R$, November 28/01), Simson became a consultant and was chief technology officer for IPVALUE Management Inc which specialized in the commercialization of intellectual property. Simson is extremely active with many organizations and continues to chair the board of Micronet R&D Inc….
