Dr Bob Fessenden is returning to his S&T roots with his appointment as DM of Alberta’s Ministry of Innovation and Science, replacing Barry Mehr who returns to the Ministry of Agriculture. Fessenden joined the Alberta Research Council (ARC) in 1982 after stints at Syncrude Canada Ltd and the Univ of Toronto’s faculty of forestry. At ARC, he held a number of increasingly senior positions, becoming VP research operations in 1994. In 1995, he was appointed president of the Alberta Science and Research Authority, a position he held for four years before being appointed in 1999 as DM Alberta Economic Development. In 2001 he was appointed DM of Sustainable Resource Development....
