Dr Alejandro Adem

Dr Alejandro Adem has been appointed CEO and scientific director of Mitacs, effective February 1st. Adem joins Mitacs — a not-for-profit organization that has designed and delivered research and training programs — from the Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences (PIMS). He is also a professor and Canada Research Chair at the Univ of British Columbia. Adem replaces Dr Robert Annan who served as interim CEO following the departure of Dr Arvind Gupta who left last year to become president of the Univ of British Columbia. As director of PIMS, he built several national and international partnerships, managed multiple levels of funding and developed industrial collaborations. Adem holds a PhD from Princeton Univ and a BSc from the National Univ of Mexico….
