CombiMatrix opens facility at MaRS

CombiMatrix Molecular Diagnostics (CMDX) is expanding its operations with the creation of a new facility at the MaRS Discovery District in Toronto. CMDX is the wholly owned subsidiary of CombiMatrix Group, one of two operating divisions of Acacia Research Corp, Newport Beach CA. It is developing a platform technology to rapidly produce customizable arrays — semi-conductor-based tools to identify and determine the roles of genes, gene mutations and proteins. It chose to open a new facility at the MaRS centre to tap into the pool of researchers emanating from Toronto's medical research community. The MaRS facility will be headed up by Dr Mansoor Mohammed, CMDX's chief scientific officer and VP. Mohammed is a respected researcher in the fields of microarray technologies and comparative genomic hybridization....
