Clare Appavoo

Clare Appavoo has been appointed executive director of the Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN), a partnership of Canadian universities dedicated to expanding digital content for academic research in Canada. Appavoo replaces inaugural executive director Deb deBruijn (see below). She will build on the success of the network and lead the development of a new strategic plan. Appavoo holds a BA in general studies, followed by management and leadership training at the York Univ Schulich School of Business and the Human Capital Group. Previously known as the Canadian National Site Licensing Project, CRKN started in 2000 as a pilot project and was incorporated and renamed in 2004. It now represents 75 universities. and undertakes large-scale content acquisition and licensing initiatives worth nearly $100 million annually....

Deb deBruijn has been appointed university secretary for Trent Univ, the institution's most senior position providing governance-related and administrative advice to its senate, board of governors and senior administration. de Bruijn comes to Trent from the Ottawa-based Canadian Research Knowledge Network where she served as its executive director from its inception in 2000.
